In the inaugural match at the new Maryville Athletic Complex, the Maryville men's tennis team rallied for a 5-2 victory over Lake Superior State Wednesday afternoon. The Lakers took the doubles point by winning all three of the matches before the Saints came back in singles play.
Lake Superior State won three closely contested doubles matches to go up 1-0 in the team scoring. Louis Glaves won 6-7, 7-5, 10-5 at No. 1 singles, while Bodin Aleksic took a 2-6, 6-3, 10-6 decision at No. 2. At the third singles position, Jack Beuttell-Triggs also dropped the first set but rallied for a 3-6, 6-4, 10-6 win but LSSU took the No. 4 singles match. Fernando de Andres Orea took his match at No. 5 singles 7-5, 6-4, and Donovan McKnight swept his foe at No. 6 6-3, 6-1.
The Saints are next in action Friday, March 6, when they host Purdue Northwest at 1:45 p.m. The match will be played indoors at Sunset Tennis Center.
