Despite 28 points from
Owen Long, the Maryville men's basketball team lost a 67-61 decision to visiting Lewis Thursday evening. The sophomore sank 9-of-16 shots to go along with four rebounds and two steals to bolster the Maryville offense.
Daniel Farris added 15 points, while
Kamto Eze grabbed nine rebounds to top the Saints.

What Happened
The score was tied 11-11 before the Saints scored six straight. Long sank a 3-pointer from the top of the key, and Farris followed with another from deep for a 17-11 edge. The half stayed close as the teams traded the lead five times. Long hit a jumper and had an offensive rebound and put back for a 28-27 Maryville lead at the half.

The Saints were still up 35-34 at the 15:26 mark after a jumper by Long. Lewis went ahead on an 8-0 burst. Maryville answered with an 8-2 run as Farris knocked down two free throws.
Ari Jackson hit consecutive 3-pointers from deep on the right wing as the Saints got the margin down to 44-43 with 11:08 remaining. The Flyers responded with a 13-4 run to take control. Maryville made one last charge by scoring six straight points to get to 57-51 but could not draw any closer.
