St. Louis – The Maryville volleyball team was looking to run its winning streak to three but city-rival University of Missouri-St. Louis halted the Saints run 3-0. Set scores were 25-20, 25-12, 25-21.
Avery Bell,
Taylor Keck and
Mikaela Kues all had seven kills apiece, while
Alyssa Koska notched a season-high six kills and hit .357.

What Happened
The Saints forged a tie at 10-10 but UMSL scored five straight points. The Tritons kept the lead but Maryville used a 3-0 run to get to within 22-19 on a Keck kill. However, UMSL held off the charge by the Saints to take the first set. The second set saw the Saints build a 6-4 advantage on a
Rachel Hurt kill. UMSL went up 8-6 before another point by Hurt. The Tritons used a 7-0 burst to take control of the set and build a 2-0 cushion.

The Saints took the early lead in the third set and stayed in front until UMSL tied the score at 10-10. Still tied at 12, Koska put the Saints ahead and a Keck ace was good for a 14-12 margin. Bell pounded down a kill at 18-15 and the Saints sill were up 19-18 after yet another kill by Bell. UMSL scored three straight points to surge in front and closed out the match.
