St. Charles, Mo. – In the first game of the Great Lakes Valley Conference schedule, the Maryville men's basketball team ran its winning streak to five games with a 90-84 overtime victory at Lindenwood. Facing his old team,
Cameron Scales registered 18 points, eight rebounds and three assists to lead five Saints in double-figure scoring. The Saints sank all three field goal attempts in OT while forcing Lindenwood to miss nine of 10 shots in the extra session.

What Happened:
Lindenwood drained 10 3-pointers in the first half to claim a 46-38 lead at halftime. The Saints still trailed 60-49 before clawing back into the game with a 7-0 spurt. After one free throw,
Jaeden Smith drained back-to-back 3-pointers to trim the deficit to 60-56 with 11:43 left in the half. Lindenwood went back ahead 68-58 but the Saints answered with 12 straight points. Scales hit a runner and
Ari Jackson drained a long 3-pointer. Scales then scored consecutive buckets to tie the game.
Kelvin Swims hit both ends of a one-and-one to put the Saints back on top 70-68. In the final minute,
Donovan Parker made two free throws but the Lions scored five straight to force overtime.

Both teams scored on their first possession of OT until Swims drove to the hoop for a bucket. Smith then splashed in a critical triple for an 84-79 edge with 3:10 left. After a defensive stop, Parker sank two free throws for a seven-point margin. Lindenwood got as close as 87-83 in the last minute but Jackson sank two free throws, and Smith hit one more to close out the triumph.
