St. Charles, Mo. – The Maryville women's basketball team had its two-game winning streak end at Lindenwood 69-62 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference opener.
Antoinette Mussorici led the Saints with 18 points, and
Taylor Kirby contributed 12 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the field. Maryville held the Lions to 41 percent shooting but LU outrebounded the Saints by 17.

What Happened:
Mussorici scored on a drive late in the first quarter to give the Saints an 11-10 lead after 10 minutes.
Olivia Kastens hit a jumper on the opening possession of the second quarter. The Saints still were up 16-15 after a Mussorici triple three minutes in. Lindenwood jumped ahead 28-21 but Maryville tallied the last six points before halftime.
Maddy Meehan had back-to-back buckets, and
Irie Razor sank two at the line to pull the Saints to within 28-27.

Carsyn Fearday drove to the bucket and scored as the Saints went back up 29-28 early in the third. The Lions edged back up and took a 39-37 lead with four minutes left in the quarter. However, Lindenwood reeled off nine straight points to take a double-digit lead. Down 55-46 with 8:42 left, the Saints responded with seven consecutive points. Razor knocked down a jumper, and
Hunter Stidham drained a 3-pointer. Kirby scored inside to bring the Saints back to 55-53 with 5:45 remaining. The score remained close and
Abby Weis' 3-pointer cut the deficit to 60-58. The Lions used a late 7-0 burst to seal the win.
