Despite a season-high 28 points from
Jayda Jansen, the Maryville women's basketball team lost at Missouri S&T 78-70 Thursday night in Rolla, Mo.
Karlee Feldman tied her career best with 18 points, while
Antoinette Mussorici chipped in 13 points. The Saints committed just six turnovers in the contest.

What Happened
The teams traded the lead, and Feldman's layup tied the game at 9-9. The Miners scored seven straight to jump ahead. Mussorici sank two free throws to start an 8-2 run for Maryville. Jansen drilled consecutive 3-pointers to pull the Saints to within 18-17. Missouri S&T only led by three after one free throw by
Irie Razor but went up 30-20 by the end of the first. Trailing by 15, the Saints charged back with an 11-2 burst. Feldman had a free throw and a layup at the start and later added a bucket in the lane. Jansen and Mussorici connected from deep to trim the gap down to 41-35.

The Miners opened the third quarter with an 8-2 run before Jansen went on a personal 8-0 run to draw Maryville back to 55-45. Missouri S&T pushed the cushion to 66-49 heading into the fourth. The Saints rallied on the strength of a 12-0 outburst. Feldman made three free throws before Mussorici and Jansen scored on consecutive layups.
Olivia Kastens drilled a 3-pointer, and two free throws by Mussorici brought Maryville to 73-67 with 3:34 to play. Feldman powered up for a layup as the Saints trailed just 74-69 at the 2:18 mark but were unable to trim the deficit to one possession.
