In the 2021 spring season finale,
Avery Bell posted nine kills and a .538 hitting percentage for the Maryville volleyball team but Truman State claimed a 25-10, 25-22, 25-13 victory in Kirksville, Mo.

What Happened
Truman bolted from the start of set one and scored the first five points before
Mikaela Kues had a kill for Maryville. TSU tacked on a 3-0 run before
Taylor Keck put down a kills. The Bulldogs took control with five straight points.

The Saints tallied the first three points of set two to grab the early lead. After a Truman error,
Rachel Hurt had a kills, and
Abbie Schnell served an ace. Maryville went up 8-3 as errors by Truman sandwiched kills by
Faith Ahlhardt and
Hannah Scrum. Still leading 10-7, the Saints used a 3-0 run with kills by Hurt and Bell, and a Truman error led to a 13-7 advantage. TSU chipped away to get closer but Bell terminated a pass from Schnell for a 16-14 lead. However, Truman scored four straight for an 18-16 lead.
Karolina Rodowski had a kill and a point by Ahlhardt forged an 18-18 tie. Truman jumped on top with a 4-0 and held on for a 2-0 edge.

Truman scored the first three points in set three before the Saints tied the score. After two TSU errors, a block by Bell and
Hannah Scrum forced a 3-3 tie. Truman went up 7-4 before an Ahlhardt kill brought the Saints to within two points. Truman answered with a 5-1 run but Rodowski and Bell put together back-to-back kills to bring the margin to 12-8. Bell added another point but Truman scored six of the next seven and closed out the contest.
