Alyssa Callans threw a one-hit shutout as the Maryville softball team advanced at the 2021 Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament in East Peoria, Ill. Kim DeBold had two key RBIs to spark the offense. The Saints defeated No. 3 seed Drury 3-0 and will face No. 1 seed Indianapolis in an elimination game Saturday, May 8, at Noon.
 
Drury game:
Callans doubled for the first Maryville hit of the day, and she came around to score on Kim DeBold's RBI double for the only run the Saints would need. In the bottom of the third, Taylor Shingler bunted for a single and sprinted to third on a Callans single. DeBold delivered an RBI with a sac fly for a 2-0 edge. The Saints closed out their scoring in the sixth. Melanie Nelson singled and took a base on two straight groundouts. McKenna McCoy lashed an RBI single to left for a 3-0 lead.
 
In the circle, Callans surrendered just one hit to Drury, a single in the top of the fourth. She faced the minimum of 18 batters through six innings and saw a total of 22 plate appearances by Drury in the game. Callans notched five strikeouts and only allowed three total baserunners.
