Owensboro, Ky. - The Maryville volleyball squad earned a split on the final day of the Kentucky Wesleyan Tournament. The Saints were toppled by Missouri Western in three sets but bounced host KWC in four and finished the tourney with a strong 3-1 showing.

The Saints moved past Kentucky Wesleyan 25-22, 16-25, 26-24, 25-22.
Mikaela Kues hit a sizzling .458 with on a season-high 12 kills, while
Hannah Scrum added 10 kills with a .333 hitting percentage. The Saints scored five of six points to get to set point at 24-22, and
Rachel Hurt had a kill for a 1-0 lead. After KWC took set two, the Saints looked to be in trouble but saved two straight set points for a 24-24 tie. After a block by

Taylor Hasbrook served an ace for a thrilling 26-24 win. In the final set, Maryville was down 19-18 but tallied three straight to jump ahead. The Saints kept a narrow lead until
Makenna Brauman's tip shot ended the match 25-22.

What's Next?
The Saints start Great Lakes Valley Conference play as they travel to Southern Indiana Thursday, Sept. 16. Maryville hosts its home opener Saturday, Sept. 18, as Lindenwood comes to Moloney Arena for a 3 p.m. start. All fans will be required to wear a mask while inside the Simon Athletic Center.
