Mason Mortimer, the Maryville men's volleyball team recorded the first victory in program history with a 3-1 triumph over Culver-Stockton. Set scores were 25-16, 25-16, 23-25, 25-21. Mortimer hit .471 in the contest, while Fischer finished at a .444 clip. The Saints served up 11 aces on the night.

What Happened
Set one was tied at 12-12 before the Saints reeled off five straight points. Fischer had a kill to start the run, and after a CSC error, he served up an ace. The visitors committed another error, and Fischer drilled in another ace for a 17-12 lead. The margin never dipped below five the rest of the way as the Saints won their first set of the year.

Maryville scored three straight midway in set two to build a 15-10 edge. The Saints kept that cushion until closing with a rush. Up 21-16, they tallied four straight to end the set. After a Fischer kill, Mortimer followed. CSC had a ball handling error before
Michael Guevarra served an ace at game point. The Saints blitzed CSC with a .600 hitting percentage with 14 kill on just two errors and 20 attempts.

The Saints had their lowest hitting percentage of the night as the Wildcats edged the Saints in set three to force the fourth. A CSC error sparked a quick 4-0 burst for Maryville.
Luke Van Handel hammered in a kill, and after a Wildcat miscue, he tacked on another for a 7-2 lead. After one point by Culver-Stockton, the Saints reeled off three straight points. The Saints took command with another 3-0 burst and eventually built an 18-10 cushion. CSC inched back into the set but a service error on match point closed Maryville's first victory.
