Liberty, Mo. – The Maryville men's basketball team posted its best defensive field goal percentage of the season and snapped William Jewell's four-game win streak with a 66-57 victory in Liberty, Mo. The Saints defense limited the Cardinals to a 30.5 percent shooting night, besting the 31.8 Maryville held McKendree to Dec. 2, 2021.
Ari Jackson and
Cameron Scales led the offensive attack with 14 points apiece, while
JT Morgan finished with 12 points and six rebounds.

Narrowly leading 12-11,
Ari Jackson sank a 3-pointer to spark an 8-2 run. After a WJC score,
Harrison Vickers scored on a layup.
JT Morgan converted a layup, and later sank one free throw for a 20-13 advantage. The Cardinals closed to 20-19 but the Saints scored six of the last seven points to take a 26-20 edge into halftime. Maryville's defense limited William Jewell to 29.2 percent shooting and allowed only seven field goals.

Dylan Ingram and
Daniel Farris started the second half with consecutive layups to boost the Saints to a double-digit lead. The Cardinals pulled to 31-26 before Maryville answered with a 9-2 burst. Jackson splashed in a triple, and Farris knocked down a jumper. William Jewell scored but Farris and Ingram converted back-to-back baskets for a 40-28 margin.
Cameron Scales tallied five straight points as Maryville's margin grew to 45-30 with 10:32 left. The Cardinals got as close as 55-47 until the Saints put the game away with an 8-0 run. Maryville hit half of its 46 shots on the night.
