ST. LOUIS – Maryville University men's soccer defeated Missouri S&T with a 7-1 final for their Senior Day on Sunday afternoon. The Saints had plenty to cheer about, scoring seven goals in a game for the first time since doing so on the road at Southwest Baptist University on Sept. 4, 2014.

With the win,
David Korn's team continues to pace the Great Lakes Valley Conference with 26 points (8-1-2). They additionally move to 9-4-2 overall in 2022.

Junior midfielder
Tim Smith got the Saints going in a hurry, scoring his fourth goal of the season in the fourth minute. Five minutes later, he added goal number two off an assist from senior
Mirza Hasecic.

In the 15th minute,
Bryce Glisson fired a shot that got deflected by a Miner defender and landed behind the goalie for his second goal of the season.
Cameron Caldwell made it 4-0 after splitting the defenders and hunting down a long pass from
Carter Reiss. Maryville got their fifth goal of the half on an
Eyob Tadesse goal assisted by
Mason Crew.

The charge continued in the second half.
Jimmy Doherty found the back of the net at 49:38 followed in the 76th minute by a missile into the top-right corner from
Sebastian Weitlaner.

In total, the Saints out shot the Miners 14-2 with seven more shots on goal to earn a 7-1 victory.

Next up for the men's soccer team is a road meeting with McKendree University as their search to lock up the top spot in the GLVC continues. Kickoff is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 21, in Lebanon, Ill., at 7:30 p.m.
