Tia Sansone scored the fastest goal to start a game in Maryville's inaugural season but visiting Saint Louis University rallied to down the Saints 5-1. Sansone collected a pass from
Delanie Winkelmann and tallied just 47 seconds into the game to give Maryville the quick 1-0 lead over its Division I visitors.

The Saints stayed in front until midway through the first when the Billikens equalized in the eighth minute. The score remained deadlocked at 1-1 until SLU took the lead with two goals in the second quarter for a 3-1 edge at halftime.

Maryville earned a penalty corner late in the third but
Gwen Oudesluys' shot just trickled wide of the cage. The Saints had two straight shots on target in the fourth but both shots were saved. The Billikens closed out the scoring with single tallies in the third and fourth quarter. Saints goalie
Liz Bierhals made nine saves in the net.

The Saints slip to 2-10 on the campaign, while Saint Louis improves to 3-13 this year. Maryville hosts its final home game of the season Saturday, Oct. 22, when Marian (Wis.) University comes to town.
