Tia Sansone hat trick, the Maryville field hockey team cruised past Marian 5-1 in the home finale Saturday. Sansone added an assist on the day as the Saints set a season high for goals scored.

Lachlan Sanders put a shot on goal that was saved but she followed up and tucked the ball into the lower left corner for a 1-0 lead. The Saints held on to that one-goal edge until halftime.
Skyler Turiello collected a pass from Sansone and scored midway through the third to double Maryville's lead.

Sansone scored her first goal about three minutes later on a feed from Sanders to push the Saints on top 3-0. Marian converted a penalty shot as Maryville took a 3-1 lead into the final 15 minutes. Sansone restored a three-goal lead off an assist from
Delanie Winkelmann. Just over a minute later, Sansone completed the first hat trick in program history as she slotted home a pass from
Gwen Oudesluys.

The Saints are now 3-10 on the while Marian University slides to 5-6. Maryville closes out the 2022 season with a game at Lindenwood, Saturday, Oct. 29, in a 7 p.m. start.
