INDIANAPOLIS – Maryville men's soccer will take on the eighth-seeded Missouri S&T Miners at Maryville Soccer Field on Sunday, Oct. 30, at 2 p.m. for the opening round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship Tournament. The Saints finished 9-4-3 in conference play to earn their first GLVC Regular Season Championship in program history.
After a rocky start to its non-conference schedule, David Korn's team turned it around in a hurry. Sebastian Weitlaner's game-winning goal in an upset over No. 5 Indianapolis to open conference play sent them on a 6-0-1 tear. Drury handed the men their only loss on Oct. 7, but they rebounded quickly to finish out their conference schedule at 8-1-3.
On the other side, the Miners are coming off of a 5-7-4 record in the regular season and a 4-4-4 record in conference play. Additionally, Missouri S&T is 2-2 over its last four games including a 3-2 win over Indianapolis in the last outing.
When the Saints and Miners met Sunday, Oct. 16, Maryville dominated play with a 7-1 Senior Day victory. Tim Smith opened the game with two goals in the first ten minutes followed by tallies from Bryce Glisson, Cameron Caldwell, Eyob Tadesse, and Jimmy Doherty.
Admission to Sunday's game will be $10 and free for all Maryville students with their student IDs. Children under the age of five can enter for free.
