ST. LOUIS – Maryville University fell 1-0 to Lake Erie College in the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals on Saturday afternoon. The Saints wrap up an impressive postseason run with a heartbreaking 1-0 loss to the Storm after being turned away on numerous second-half scoring chances.

Determined to tie the game in the next 45 minutes, Maryville earned several strong opportunities in the second half. Storm goalkeeper Tomas Wroblewski turned away

Bryce Glisson missed the bottom left corner by inches in the 60th minute.

Three minutes later, Glisson again sent a ball toward the net but he was turned away by a diving Wroblewski.
Emil Antonacci sent the goalkeeper sprawling for an attempt in the 64th minute but was denied by the Lake Erie keeper.

Tim Smith tried another shot at 67:57 as did
Cedric Sengl at 68:37, but both had their attempts rejected by Wroblewski.
Jimmy Doherty and Glisson each sent attempts in the final minutes before time ran out on the comeback.

Maryville will look to keep the momentum going in 2023 after earning its fifth consecutive NCAA Tournament bid this season.
