Kansas City, Mo. – The Maryville men's basketball team had its five-game winning streak ended as Rockhurst shot 55.6 percent from the field to down the Saints 93-69. Ben Palacios topped Maryville with a career-high tying 20 points, while Dewayne Vass added 14 points on 7-of-9 shooting. Tutu Chisholm added 10 points. Maryville cut a 26-point deficit to just 10 but the Hawks pulled away late.
 
Rockhurst recap
Vass scored on a layup to give the Saints an early 8-7 lead. The Hawks tallied the next 12 points to jump ahead. JT Morgan sank two free throws to end the Maryville drought, and the Saints closed back to within single digits at 24-16. The Hawks stayed hot from the field and ended the first half with a 47-27 lead after shooting 56.3 percent in the opening 20 minutes.
 
Vass scored the opening basket of the second half, while Palacios and Chisholm connected on back-to-back buckets to keep the Saints within range. Maryville used a 13-2 run capped by a Palacios wing jumper and closed the gap to 65-51 midway through the second period. The Saints kept up the pressure and went on a 10-2 burst to chop Rockhurst's lead down to 74-64 at the 5:53 mark. However, the Saints were unable to trim their deficit to single digits as the Hawks held on to end the Maryville win streak.
