Wilberforce, Ohio – The Maryville men's volleyball team cruised to a sweep at Central State by scores of 25-19, 25-23, 25-21. The Saints took advantage of 21 service errors by the Marauders while also recording 10 team blocks, including eight solo rejections.

Tied at 8-8 in set one, the Saints scored four straight points capped by a kill from
Tate Sandvig. Maryville used another 4-0 run and a
Jacob Fischer ace reached set point. The Saints took the opener 25-19.

In the second set, the Saints used a block by Fischer, an ace by
Luke Van Handel and a kill by
Tate Sandvig to build a 6-3 edge. Central State came back to grab an 11-9 lead but the Saints answered with a kill by Van Handel and another Fischer block for a 15-13 advantage. The teams traded the lead but Van Handel put down a kill and a solo block by
Mason Mortimer put the Saints on top 24-22. Mortimer ended the set with a kill at 25-23.

Neither team led by more than two points and the third set was still tied at 17-17. The Saints made a charge with four unanswered points. After a Central service miscue, Sandvig served and ace, and the Marauders committed a hitting error. Another Sandvig ace built a 21-17 lead. Maryville stayed ahead and a kill by Van Handel and a Mortimer service ace closed out the match. Â
