Bentonville, Ark. - In its season opening doubleheader, the Maryville softball team lost to Southern Arkansas 8-3 but rallied to beat Northeastern State 8-7.
Against SAU,
Emily Corona singled and stole second. After a walk to
Tori Forbeck and a passed ball,
Isabella Garcia hit a fielder's choice that scored a run.
Lexi Touchette hit a sac fly to plate Forbeck. Later,
Taylor Shingler beat out an infield single, and pinch runner
Kylie Swinney scored on the play for Maryville's third run of the game.

NSU took a 3-0 lead after three innings but the Saints tied the game in the fourth. With the bases loaded,
Erin Sammelmann's ball was misplayed to clear the bases for a 3-3 tie. The Saints went up 5-3 when
Lexi Touchette lashed a two-RBI single in the fifth.

The Riverhawks pushed across two runs in the top of the sixth but the Saints answered with three in the bottom of the frame.
Emersen Heron cranked a three-run homer that would prove to be the game-winning runs.
Olivia Jarvis picked up the win for Maryville.

The Saints play two more games Saturday as they face Arkansas Monticello and Pittsburg State in Bentonville, Ark.
