Bentonville, Ark. - The Maryville softball team was edged by a single run in both of its two games to close the Memorial Classic in Bentonville, Ark. Harding downed the Saints 5-4 while Southeastern Oklahoma State emerged with a 3-2 win.

Harding took a four run lead before the Saints pulled two runs back in the third. Harding tacked on a score in the top of the fourth before Maryville answered with two in the bottom of the frame.
Melanie Nelson and
Taylor Duff were on second and third until
Emersen Heron doubled them both home. The fifth saw
Erin Sammelmann walk and touch home on Nelson's double. Nelson stole third and scored on an error as the Saints closed to 5-4. The Saints got the potential tying run aboard in the seventh but stranded her on the base paths.

Southeastern Oklahoma took the lead in the first but the Saint struck with two runs in the third.
Taylor Shingler was hit by a pitch and took third when Nelson reached on an error on a sac bunt. Nelson promptly stole second before Sammelmann singled the pair home for a 2-1 lead. SEOK tied the game in the top of the fifth before taking a 3-2 lead in the top of the seventh.

The Saints (1-3) will next be back in action when they travel to Harrogate, Tenn., to play two games against host Lincoln Memorial and Davenport Feb. 19 and 20.
