Harrogate, Tenn. - The Maryville softball team dropped its first two contests at the LMU Invitational in Harrogate, Tenn., Saturday. Davenport snuck by the Saints 1-0, and host team No. 13 Lincoln Memorial posted a 10-2 win.

Davenport pushed across an unearned run in the bottom of the first and made it stand. The Saints had the based loaded in the top of the second but were unable to push home the tying run. Maryville received singles from
Taylor Duff and
Taylor Shingler but the duo was unable to score. In their final at-bat,
Lexi Touchette singled and
Ally Wilson came on as a pinch runner. She advanced to third but was stranded there to end the game.

Against the hosts, the Saints struck first when
Erin Sammelmann singled home
Emily Corona for a 1-0 run in the first. LMU answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning and another in the third. Maryville pulled one run back in the fifth but LMU closed the game out with six runs in the bottom of the fifth.

The Saints play two more games Sunday as they face Ohio Dominican and Lincoln Memorial again to close out action.
