St. Louis – The Maryville men's volleyball team made the short trip looking to top No. 14 Missouri Baptist but the Spartans rallied for a 22-25, 25-12, 25-21, 25-17 victory. The loss snaps the four-match winning streak by the Saints.

Up 16-15, 
Cole Torrence recorded a kill, and a 
Victor Ganev ace was good for an 18-15 lead. After a point by MBU, 
Mason Mortimer put down a kill and he teamed with 
Jacob Fischer for a block. 
Cameron Chambers served an ace for a 21-16 edge. The Spartans closed to 21-10 but the Saints scored three of the next four points to take control. Fischer closed out the set with a kill for a 25-22 win.
 
Set two was tied at 3-3 before MBU scored seven of the next eight points to jump on top. The Saints finally scored a point to stop the run by the Spartans. However, the Saints could not sustain their offense as Missouri Baptist evened up the match at one set apiece.
 
Tate Sandvig's kill trimmed MBU's lead to 12-10 until the Spartans scored three of the next four points. Trailing 20-15, the Saints rallied and scored three straight. After an MBU error, Fischer had a kill to draw Maryville to 21-20. The Spartans closed out the set on a 4-1 run to take the lead.
 
MBU only led 7-6 in set four but built a 12-7 advantage. The Saints charged back with two kills by Mortimer and Sandvig and closed to 12-10. However, the Spartans went on a 6-1 run and stretched their lead out to 20-12. Maryville chipped away and got as close as 21-16 but MBU held on the rest of the way.

The Saints head to downtown for two matches at University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy. Maryville faces Graceland at 2 p.m., then take on the hosts UHSP at 4 p.m.
