Evansville, Ind. – In its final trip to Southern Indiana, the Maryville men's basketball team battled USI but was halted 65-58 in Evansville, Ind.
Jaeden Smith set a new season high with 19 points and his five 3-pointers are the most by a Maryville player this season.
Daniel Farris added 12 points and handed out six assists.

What Happened:
The Saints went on an 8-0 run to break on top of USI.
Trey Baker knocked down a 3-pointer to start the burst, and Smith followed from beyond the arc. A layup by
Cameron Scales built the lead to 15-7.
Ari Jackson completed a three-point play, and Scales' triple pushed the Saints to a 24-11 advantage. Southern Indiana came all the way back to go ahead by one but Farris' layup at the halftime buzzer handed Maryville a 29-28 edge.

The teams traded the lead early in the second, and Smith's third triple put the Saints ahead 37-36. The Screaming Eagles went on an 11-0 run until Smith splashed a triple as the Saints answered with eight unanswered points to draw to 47-45 with 7:29 remaining. USI took a 51-45 lead but Swims scored on a layup, Scales made one free throw before Smith's fifth trey of the night deadlocked the game 51-all at the 4:34 mark.

USI took a two-point lead but Farris scored four straight to push the Saints ahead 55-53 with three minutes to go. Unfortunately, Southern Indiana went on a 9-0 run to take command. The Saints made a late push but USI sealed the win by hitting 3-of-4 free throws in the final seconds.
