St. Louis – The Maryville women's lacrosse team set a school record for goals in a game as the Saints started the 2022 season with a 21-1 romp over Hendrix Saturday.
Reagan Rukstad led the way with four goals as 14 players registered at least one point in the game. The Saints surpassed the previous goal record of 18 set at West Virginia Wesleyan March 11, 2020.

Julia Banfield set a new mark for fastest goal to start a game as she found the back of the net just 18 seconds into the contest.
Jessie Hynes scored a minute later, and Rukstad tallied her first on the day. Hynes scored two more times to complete her hat trick in the first. Rukstad got on the scoresheet again less than five minutes in, and
Ronnie Skorcz notched back-to-back goals, including while the Saints were a player down.

Maryville built a 10-0 lead by the end of the first quarter and tacked on five more goals in the second quarter to take a 15-0 cushion into the break. The Saints added one more score to make it 16-0 before Hendrix finally scored on a free position shot three minutes into the third.
