Kelvin Swims scored the game-winning basket on a layup with 5.6 seconds left to give the Maryville men's basketball team a hard-fought 49-48 victory over Lewis Thursday night.
Ari Jackson led the Saints with 14 points, while Swims finished with 11.
JT Morgan snared a game-high 11 rebounds.

What Happened:
In a game neither team led by more than four points, the Saints took a 30-27 edge early in the second half on a 3-pointer by Jackson. Lewis scored on a jumper but Jackson found the range from deep and a 33-29 advantage. The Flyers came back to tie the game at 35-all. Jackson scored on a layup for a 42-41 edge but Lewis grabbed a 46-42 lead with 1:59 left.

Jackson drilled a corner triple, and
Daniel Farris scored on a short jumper for a 47-46 lead with 22 ticks to go. Lewis hit both ends of a one-and-one to jump back in front with 16.2 seconds to go. Swims collected the inbounds pass on the right side, drove down the lane and scooped the ball into the net for the game winner. Lewis took a shot at the buzzer but the ball bounced twice and off the rim. The Flyers lead the East Division of the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

What's Next?
The Saints close the regular season by hosting Indianapolis Saturday, Feb. 26, in a 3:15 pm tip in Moloney Arena for Senior Day. Two Saints seniors will be honored during the contest.
