What Happened:
The Saints took a 40-37 edge into halftime after shooting 50 percent from the field. Maryville opened the second half on a 9-0 run. Scales scored inside and later made two free throws. Jackson drained a deep 3-pointer, and two at the line from Scales were good for a 49-37 advantage. The defense kept the Miners off the scoreboard for nearly four minutes to begin the half. Swims scored on a layup and his free throw pushed the Saints ahead 59-42 with 13 minutes left in the game.
Â
The Miners kept chipping away at the lead but the Saints still led 71-61 with 6:23 to play. The visitors kept up their rally and eventually took the lead at 72-71 at the 1:45 mark. Neither team scored until the waning moments. The Saints inbounded the ball and worked the ball to the left side. Swims took the ball and drove straight down the lane, and his layup with 13.8 ticks left proved to be the game winner. The Miners had a late 3-pointer but the shot misfired as the Saints earned their 10th win of the season.
