Wrestlers Send Small Squad to the Greyhound Open and Grab Two Placers

Indianapolis – The Maryville wrestling team sent a small squad to compete at the Greyhound Open hosted by the University of Indianapolis. Brett Heil and one other Saint earned places to spotlight action Sunday for Maryville.

Heil lost his opening match at 174 but dominated his subsequent matches. In the consolation draw, he post a fall in 1:46 but surpassed that with another pin in just 36 seconds. Heil recorded another fast fall as he won in exactly one minute over a Division I foe. Continuing his outstanding form, he posted his fourth straight fall, this time in 2:30. Heil won his consolation semi bout with a medical forfeit but saw his day end in the third-place match to an opponent from DI West Virginia. He had the most falls on the day with four in the shortest time of 5:52 while posting a 5-2 record.
 
Maryville had a placer at 165, and three other Saints competed and won at least two matches for the squad. Maryville is back in action Saturday, Feb. 12, as they compete in the GLVC Tournament hosted in Hyland Arena by Lindenwood University.
