Kansas City, Mo. – In its Great Lakes Valley Conference opener, the Maryville men's lacrosse team had its five-game winning streak come to an end as Rockhurst rallied for a 17-8 win Wednesday in Kansas City. The Saints built an early 6-1 lead but the Hawks used a big rally in the second half to complete their comeback.
Connor Eskridge led the Saints with three goals, while
Clayton Cerett finished with two goals and one assist.

Rockhurst Recap
The Saints scored two goals late in the first quarter to take a 3-1 edge after the opening 15 minutes.
Ethan Olson pushed Maryville to a 4-1 advantage a little more than two minutes into the second, and
David Yakel scored a little more than a minute later. Conner Eskridge was the first player to score more than once, and his tally five minutes into the second built a 6-1 lead. The Saints defense clamped down on the Hawks and did not allow a goal for more than 15 minutes. Rockhurst finally scored its second goal of the game but the Saints still took a 6-2 advantage into the break.

Rockhurst opened the third quarter with two scores before Cerett tallied his second of the game for a 7-4 lead. However, the Hawks scored the final five goals of the quarter to take a 9-7 edge going into the fourth quarter. Rockhurst kept its momentum going into the final 15 minutes and eventually pulled away for the win. The Hawks went 4-of-7 on man-up situations to key the rally.
