St. Joseph, Mo. - The Maryville women's lacrosse team trailed Missouri Western by just one at halftime but the Griffons used a big second half to steadily pull away for the 11-5 win.

Reagan Rukstad distributed three assists to boost the Maryville offense.

Missouri Western won the opening draw control but the
Ashley Raines forced a turnover to give the Saints the ball for the first time.
Lexi Taylor collected a pass from
Reagan Rukstad and fired in a goal to put the Saints up two minutes into the game. MWSU took a 2-1 lead before
Jessie Hynes deadlocked the game at 2-2 after the first 15 minutes.

The Griffons went back ahead in the second until the Saints tied the game on the next possession via a
Skyler Jolie score. Neither team scored for nearly seven minutes until the hosts took a 4-3 edge just before halftime. The Griffons opened the third quarter with five consecutive goals to surge ahead. Jolie finally ended the Maryville drought to pull the Saints back to 9-4 but that was as close as the Saints would get the rest of the way.
Jo Miles made 12 saves in the contest, her second-highest total of the season.
