Romeoville, Ill. – In the regular season finale, the Maryville men's lacrosse team nearly came all the way back but Lewis held on for a 13-9 victory Saturday afternoon in Romeoville, Ill.
Tyler Wenck notched a hat trick and added an assist for four points to lead the Saints.

The Saints were down 2-0 before
Connor Eskridge collected a pass from
Ethan Olson and fired in the first Maryville goal. Lewis jumped ahead 6-1 until Wenck scored his second on the day. Eskridge followed up less than a minute later to cut the gap down to 6-3. The Flyers scored three straight before Wenck tallied his second of the half. Lewis took a 10-4 edge into halftime.

Joel Lucas opened the second half with a goal but Lewis answered for an 11-5 lead after the defenses only surrendered one score apiece. Wenck completed his hat trick early in the fourth quarter which was the first of three straight by the Saints.
Jaxon Snyder dashed up the field on a clearance attempt and fed
Reid Usrey for a goal as the Maryville goalie picked up an assist. Less than a minute later, Usrey feathered a pass to Olson who converted to bring the Saints to within 11-8. Lewis scored again but Usrey answered to trim the gap to 12-9 with 1:58 to play but the Saints were unable to pull back to within two scores.
