St Louis - The Maryville softball team captured game one against Missouri S&T with a 6-5 decision in nine innings, while the Miners took game two 5-3.
Emersen Heron smashed the game-winning RBI to plate
Aleigha Cory with the decisive run in the opener.

Missouri S&T game one recap
The Saints grabbed the early lead by hanging four runs in the bottom of the first.
Taylor Duff had an RBI single, and
Emersen Heron doubled Duff home.
Kylie Swinney launched a two-run homer over the fence in left for a 4-0 lead. The Miners slowly crawled back to tie the game by the fifth inning. Missouri S&T took a 5-4 in the top of the seventh but the Saints answered.
Tori Forbeck singled and
Lexi Touchette put down a sac bunt.
Shaina Kmetz walked, and
Taylor Shingler reached on an error to load the bases. Forbeck scored the tying run on a wild pitch to force extra innings.

In the ninth Kmetz walked to leadoff the frame, and Cory took over on the basepaths. Duff singled to center to push Cory to second. A wild pitch advanced both runners one base. With a full count, Heron drilled a hard shot to second base but Cory sprinted home with the winning run in extra innings. Heron also picked up the victory in relief as she allowed just one hit over three innings to go along with four strikeouts.

The Miners scored one run in the first two innings before the Saints pulled one back in the third.
Lexi Touchette walked and
Ally Wilson came on as a pinch runner. After a sac bunt by
Shaina Kmetz,
Taylor Duff laced a single to center as the Saints pulled to within 2-1. Missouri S&T built a 5-1 lead in the top of the fifth. Kmetz walked and
Aleigha Cory entered as a pinch runner. Heron hammered a home to left center to pull the Saints to 5-3. Maryville brought the tying run to the plate in the sixth but Missouri S&T kept the Saints off the board in the final two innings.
