Maryville Softball Blanked by Tritons on Saturday

ST. LOUIS – Maryville softball dropped a pair of 2-0 games to the University of Missouri – St. Louis program on Saturday afternoon.

Game 1 Recap
After a scoreless first, the Saints fell into a hole when the Tritons scratched across two runs in the second inning. Unfortunately for Maryville, that is all UMSL starting pitcher Mimi Bradley needed on her way to a no-hit shutout.
 
Reagan Smith pitched seven strong as well, surrendering just one earned on seven hits with three strikeouts.

Game 2 Recap
The Tritons jumped ahead in the top of the first inning after an RBI double. They added a second run in the second on an Anna VanGundy RBI single to centerfield. Despite getting runners in scoring position in the first, second, and seventh, the UMSL starting pitcher once again shut down the Maryville offense with a complete game shutout.
 
Melanie Nelson led the team with two hits in game two while Taylor Duff, Taylor Shingler, and Carly Nolde all collected one each. In the circle, Emerson Heron allowed just one earned over seven innings of work with four strikeouts.
