Memphis, Tenn. – The Maryville field hockey kept Rhodes College off the scoreboard in the first half but the Lynx tallied the only goal of the game in the third for the winning margin. The Saints took six shots but were kept off the scoreboard.

The Saints had their first scoring chance late in the first quarter when
Alison Tom and
Tia Sansone had back-to-back shots. Maryville launched another attempt but
Emma Gober's shot trickled just wide.
Kenzie Petch had the best chance of the day but the Rhodes keeper stopped her shot. The score remained scoreless at halftime.

Rhodes carried the play in the third quarter before finally breaking through with a goal with just under three minutes left in the frame. The Saints nearly tied the game midway in the fourth quarter. Maryville earned a penalty corner but
Delanie Winkelmann's blast was just wide.

Maryville is now 2-6 on the season, and Rhodes improves to 5-1. The Saints are next in action with a neutral site game versus Millersville University that will be played on Frostburg State's campus in Maryland Sunday, Oct. 9.
