Saints Tripped up by Late Indianapolis Comeback

Indianapolis – Maryville put four players in double figures Monday evening at Indianapolis but the Greyhounds had a big rally in the fourth to edge the Saints 75-70. Antoinette Mussorici and Taylor Kirby both finished with 19 points apiece. Carsyn Fearday had a strong all-around game and posted 14 points, seven rebounds and seven assists.

Carsyn Fearday keyed a 10-3 run that pushed the Saints up 28-19 midway through the first half. She nailed a 3-pointer to start the run, and after a UIndy score, converted a layup. Mussorici scored on a driving layup before Fearday knocked down a triple for a 28-19 advantage. The Saints took a 40-34 edge into the break.
 
Early in the third, Maryville's margin grew to nine. UIndy sank consecutive 3-pointers before the Saints answered. Maryville then used a 10-3 burst to stretch its advantage to double digits. Mussorici had a three-point play, and Taylor Kirby sank a layup. Maddy Meehan scored on a drive, and Kirby's reverse layup handed the Saints a 62-51 lead, their largest of the game.
 
The Saints were still up 65-56 with 7:20 to play. The Greyhounds came back to tie the score at 65-all. Mussorici scored on a drive for a 67-65 edge with 3:32 remaining. However, UIndy reeled off 10 straight points during the decisive closing run.

What's Next?
The Saints return home to Moloney Arena Thursday, Jan. 19, as they host Illinois Springfield for a 5:15 p.m. contest. It will be Maryville's first home game since a tilt on New Year's Eve.
