Normandy, Mo. – For the second straight outing,
Dewayne Vass reached a season high in scoring but Maryville's upset bid at No. 4 Missouri-St. Louis just fell short 88-81. Vass hit 11-of-15 shots from the field en route to 23 points for the Saints. He also dished out a season-best seven assists, led the squad with four steals and tied for the team lead with five rebounds.

Vass scored on the first possession of the game, and
Kelvin Swims followed with a jumper for a quick 4-0 lead. The teams traded the lead but Maryville went back ahead 18-15 on a
Ben Palacios jumper with just under nine minutes left in the half. UMSL retook the lead, and two free throws by
Tutu Chisholm brought the Saints to within 23-22. The Tritons stretched their advantage to nine at halftime.

UMSL led 46-36 until the Saints tallied 10 straight points.
Dylan Ingram drained a 3-pointer, and Vass drove for a layup.
Davis Walker splashed in a triple, and two free throws by
Harrison Vickers knotted the contest at 46-46 at the 15:16 mark. The Tritons inched back out in front before Vass' layup pulled Maryville to within 56-53. UMSL slowly took a 12-point lead before the Saints made one final push. Vickers drilled a trey from the top of the key, and Vass and
Trey Redd had consecutive steals for layups as Maryville clawed to within 82-77 in the final minute.
Colin Schuler scored on a reverse layup to make it 84-79 but the Saints never got the gap down to one possession.
