Williamsville, Ill. – An historic season by the Maryville volleyball team came to an end in the Great Lakes Valley Conference semifinals at the hands of No. 2 seed Lewis. The Flyers, who are ranked No. 13 in the latest AVCA poll, defeated the Saints 25-13, 25-17, 25-16. Maryville tied its Division II program record for wins in a season with 17, and its victory over Quincy in the GLVC Tournament quarterfinals was a first for the program.

Down by three, Grace Knadler and Grace Graham had back-to-back kills to trim the gap to just 7-6. Lewis scored four straight to stretch out its advantage. Hanna Dressing's kill ended the Flyers' run. Lewis went on a 5-1 run and slowly pulled away to take the opening set.
 
The Saints scored three of the first four points to begin set two and were still up 6-4 after a Lewis error. The Flyers tied the score at 8-8 but tallied five straight to take the advantage. Maryville got as close as 15-12 on a kill by Abbie Schnell. The Flyers answered by scoring five of the next six points. The Saints used a Lewis error and a service ace by Taylor Hasbrook to close to within 22-16 but the Flyers grabbed a 2-0 lead.
 
Brinkmann and Knadler had a block to cut Lewis' led to 4-3 before the Flyers tacked on five unanswered points. Maryville outscored the Flyers 5-1, and the Saints closed to within 11-9 after a Brinkmann kill. Maryville was still only trailing 13-11 but Lewis answered with its own 5-1 run. Lily Brown's finish brought the Saints back to 18-13. Maryville got to within 20-16 after a Caroline Glastetter kill and a Lewis error but the Flyers closed the match by scoring the final five points. The Saints were unable to slow down the Lewis attack as the Flyers finished the match hitting .400.
