Wisconsin Dells, Wis. – Playing in the Wisconsin Dells, the Maryville men's basketball squad saw a late rush just fall short as Saint Leo held on for a 73-69 decision over the Saints.
Ari Jackson sank four 3-pointers and finished with a team-high 14 points to lead the Maryville offense.
Anthony Holden added 13 points, while
Luke Williams chipped in 11 points. Maryville drained 12 3-pointers on the night.

Tied at 14-all,
Tutu Chisholm had a three-point play that gave the Saints a lead, and
Davis Walker sank a triple. One free throw by Chisholm pushed the Saints on top 21-14. The Lions eventually tied the score at 23-23 before
Trey Redd had a steal and a layup for a 25-23 edge. Saint Leo used a 10-0 run to take the lead. Holden sank a trey but the Lions took a 37-30 lead at halftime.

Maryville started the second half with a rush as Jackson and
JT Morgan sank 3-pointers, and a Vass layup put the Saints on top 38-37. The Lions scored four straight to retake the lead. A Jackson 3-pointer cut the deficit to just one at 41-40 but Saint Leo eventually built a double-digit advantage. Down 65-53 with four minutes to go, the Saints started a late push. Holden hit back-to-back 3-pointers to chop the lead in half. The gap was still 67-59 at the 2:30 mark but Williams sandwiched triples around a Lion bucket as the Saints pulled to 69-65. In the final minute, Vass scored inside, and a steal led to another Vass layup as Maryville cut the deficit to 71-69 with 27 seconds to play. Saint Leo made one free throw but a late 3-pointer to force overtime missed, and the Lions made one free throw to seal the win.
