Men’s Soccer Seeks First Super Region 3 Championship Against Lewis

INDIANAPOLIS – Maryville men's soccer will take on Lewis University in the NCAA Quarterfinals on Sunday, Dec. 3, in Indianapolis, Ind., at 1:30 p.m. (CT). The Saints will look to win the first NCAA Super Region 3 Championship in program history against the Flyers.

The Saints made their third sweet 16 appearance in the last four seasons after advancing past the University of Wisconsin – Parkside and Tiffin University in the first two rounds. On Friday in the third round, David Korn's squad worked a scoreless draw with McKendree University and advanced 8-7 in a shootout thanks to a clutch final save from goalkeeper Nick Hemann.

Lewis is coming off a 2-1 NCAA Third Round win over the University of Indianapolis on Friday, getting a game-winning goal from Cristian Perez in the 83rd minute. The Flyers took down Purdue University Northwest 1-0 in the first round before advancing past the University of Illinois Springfield in penalty kicks in the second round on Nov. 19.

The two programs met in Great Lakes Valley Conference play earlier this season on Oct. 13 when Joram Bogers powered Lewis to a 2-0 home win with a pair of goals. In 2022, the Saints defeated the Flyers 1-0 in overtime of the GLVC Championship and later knocked them out of the NCAA Second Round with a 5-4 shootout win.
