Caden Klingbeil drilled down 10 kills while hitting .316 to direct the Maryville men's volleyball team in a 25-20, 25-21, 25-20 sweep of Alderson Broaddus to close the Arch City Classic.
Jacob Fischer,
David Fleischer and
Drew Rogers all finished with six kills apiece. The Maryville defense held ABU to a .000 hitting percentage to key the triumph.

The visitors led 11-7 before the Saints stormed back to forge an 11-11 tie. After an ABU error, Klingbeil had a kill, and the Saints put up a triple block. Fischer's solo block forged the tie. The Battlers led 17-16 but the Saints took command with a 6-0 run. A kill by Rogers was good for a 22-17 advantage. Fleisher's kill ended the first set for the Saints.

The teams traded the lead in set two but the Battlers built a 16-11 lead. The Saints responded with five-in-a-row to tie the set at 16-16. A block by Fleisher and another with Rogers pulled Maryville even at 16-16. ABU went back up at 21-20 but the Saints closed with a rush. After two Battlers errors, Fischer served consecutive aces. Rogers put down a kill for a 25-21 win.

In the third set, the Saints were trailing 9-8 but went on a 5-1 run. Fleischer started the run, and an ABU hitting error put the Saints on top 12-10. Maryville tallied three straight to take control. After another ABU service miscue, Klingbeil and Fleisher had a block. A service ace by Fischer make it 16-12. Later, the Battlers hit a ball out as Maryville's margin grew to 18-13. ABU got as close as three points but the Saints closed the set on a 3-1 run to end the match.
