NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Maryville softball got back to a .500 record after finishing the final day of the Music City Invitational 2-0 on Sunday. The Saints took down Ashland University 7-5 in game one before defeating tournament host Trevecca Nazarene 5-2 in game two behind a complete game win from Emersen Heron.

Ashland Recap
Ashland University opened the first inning with a pair of runs off Maryville starter Chayse Ramey, but the Saints retaliated in the bottom half with a pair of runs on an Eagle error.

The Saints took the lead in the bottom of the second when Lexi Touchette singled up the middle to lead off the inning. Caitlin Rodriguez advanced the pinch runner to third with a single and forced a throwing error with a stolen base allowing the run to score. Melanie Nelson brought the run in from third a few hitters later with a single to right field to extend the lead to 4-2.

In the third, Maryville added another run on an RBI triple from Kylie Swinney to bring home Emersen Heron. Swinney later scored on a Rodriguez single to center field.
