St. Charles, Mo. – Playing on back-to-back days, the Maryville University men's volleyball team made the short trip to St. Charles, Mo., to face Lindenwood but the Lions stopped the Saints 25-15, 26-24, 25-19.  
Joe Nicometo topped Maryville with 10 kills, while 
Luke Van Handel added nine digs to lead the defensive efforts.

The Lions took the early lead in set one and stretched out their advantage with a 5-1 run. The Saints made a late push with an LU service error, followed by a Van Handel kill and a solo block by 
Jacob Fischer. Lindenwood led 3-1 before the Saints roared ahead with a 4-0 burst for a 5-3 edge. The hosted tied the set at 8-8 before 
David Fleischer recorded a kill and consecutive aces and an 11-8 advantage. 
Drew Rogers had back-to-back kills, and Nicometo added a point as Maryville's margin grew to 15-10. The Saints still were up 21-17 before the Lions reeled off five straight points to retake the lead. Maryville saved one set point to tie the set at 24-all but the Lions scored two straight.
 
Lindenwood started quickly in set three and pushed out to a 6-2 margin. The Lions steadily stretched their lead before the Saints put on a late rally. The Saints scored three straight points to trim the deficit to 21-15. A Fischer kill started another 3-0 run as Maryville got as close as 23-18. However, the rally stalled out as the Lions closed out the match in three.
