ST. LOUIS, Mo- Maryville University softball took one game against Parkside in Saturday's doubleheader to start a four-game set to continue on Sunday.

Game 1 Recap
Maryville started out Saturday's match with
Emersen Heron in the circle. After tossing three scoreless innings against the Rangers, the Saints tallied their first runs in the third inning off a solo blast to center from
Lexi Touchette.

After tossing another three scoreless innings, the home team scored two more runs off RBI doubles to center.
Emily Corona started off the sixth with an RBI double over the center fielder's head, scoring
Taylor Shingler. Corona then scored off a base hit to center field by
Kylie Swinney. The softball team gained five hits as a team with three players recording a stolen base in Saturday's showdown.

Heron tossed a complete game for the Saints, only giving up two hits to the Parkside offense. Heron totaled five strikeouts and no walks in her dominant start, improving her record to 4-3 in 2023.

Game 2 Recap
After a game one victory, Maryville started off game two with
Chayse Ramey on the rubber. The Saints struck first with their lone run coming off an RBI by  Heron, scoring Corona. Maryville kept adding hits on against the Rangers, totaling seven at the end of game two.

In the top of the sixth inning, Parkside gained a two-run lead off a screaming double down the left field line. The Saints then surrendered a two-run shot to left-center, giving the Rangers a 4-1 advantage.
Emily Senjan then entered for the Saints tossing a scoreless inning with no hits given up after facing four batters.
Maryville fell just short in the bottom of the seventh giving the Rangers a 4-1 victory in game two on Saturday.
