ST. LOUIS, Mo- Maryville University scored two victories off close battles against Rockhurst on Saturday afternoon.
Game 1 Recap
In a windy Saturday afternoon doubleheader, the Saints battled with Rockhurst in game one. Maryville tallied six total hits and collected a one-run victory off a go ahead shot to right-center by
Emily Corona, scoring
Callie Harrison.
In an outstanding pitching battle,
Emersen Heron came out victorious gaining her 10
th win of the season. Heron pitched a complete game allowing only three hits and two walks. The sophomore tallied six total strikeouts, along with gathering a hit for the Saints' offense.
In addition to Corona's walk-off double, she added another hit going 2-3 on the day.
Kylie Swinney also went 2-3 on the day with a triple and a stolen base, helping the Saints win in game one.

Game 2 Recap
Maryville started out hot in game two, gaining a 2-0 lead off a two-RBI single by
Mandi Lenon to right field, scoring Heron and Swinney. Rockhurst came back in the top of the third with three runs of their own. In the bottom of the third down 3-2, the Saints tied the game off a double by Heron to right-center, scoring Corona.
The Saints regained the lead in the bottom of the fifth off another double by Heron, scoring Corona again, giving MU a 4-3 advantage. Rockhurst came back with a three-run home run, putting the Saints down two heading into the bottom of the sixth.
In the sixth, Corona knocked a clutch triple to the right side, driving in
Taylor Shingler and
Taylor Duff tying the game at six. After a great at-bat,
Erin Sammelmann crushed a shot to the left side, scoring Corona to give the Saints a 7-6 lead. Looking for a save opportunity after a huge game-one performance, Heron tossed a hitless seventh inning.
Reagan Smith picked up the win to improve her record 3-1 on the season. Smith allowed only two hits on the day and pitched 3.1 innings for the Saints.
Chayse Ramey started in the circle for the Saints, punching out three Hawks.
