SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Maryville University baseball wrapped up a four-game series with the 20
th-ranked University of Illinois Springfield with a Saturday split. The Saints took game one 12-4 before dropping game two with a 12-10 final.

Game One Recap
Illinois Springfield took a game-one lead in the third on a solo home run.
Matt Schuler followed up with a leadoff home run in the top of the fourth to tie the game before another UIS solo home run in the bottom half.

In the fifth,
Michael Long singled to lead off the inning and came home on
Michael Gould's two-run home run.
Zeb Roos walked in the next at-bat for
Elias Stevens who added another two-run home run to make it 5-2 Maryville.

A fielder's choice in the sixth and an RBI single from Gould extended the lead to five. UIS tallied a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth and put the pressure on in the bottom of the seventh with two more runs.

After a rocky start to the inning,
Ben Prywitch recovered by getting a strikeout, a fly out to center field, and a strikeout looking to end a 7-6 win for his club. Starter
Jamie Young picked up his fourth win of the season behind 5.1 innings, four earned, seven hits, and seven strikeouts.

Game Two Recap
In an offensively charged game two, UIS took a 3-0 lead in the first on a two-RBI single and an RBI double.
Jacob Hager hit a solo home run to left in the second and Gould plated a run with a sac fly in the third to cut down on the lead.

Hager doubled to lead off the fourth,
Andy Bunton singled and stole second, and
Jack Zebig brought them both home with a two-RBI knock. Gould walked and brought in
Zeb Roos who homered to bring in a trio of runs.

The Saints tacked on two in the fifth on a Bunton two-run home run to left field. UIS stormed back in the bottom, however, posting five runs on six hits to pull the score to 9-8. They took a 10-9 lead in the sixth on a two-run blast to left.

Maryville tied the game again at 10 on Bunton's sacrifice fly in the seventh. UIS responded with a solo home run to lead off the seventh and scored later on an RBI single to open a two-run lead.

Ian Delleman took it from there for the Prairie Stars, closing out his save opportunity with two scoreless frames and five strikeouts.
