Ramey Pitches Saints to Game One Win, Drury Takes Game Two

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Chayse Ramey led the way to a 3-1 game one win over Drury University on Saturday afternoon before the Saints fell 2-1 in game two. Maryville improved its overall record to 24-14 and 12-4 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference
 
Game One Recap
The Saints opened the game with a run in the first inning when Emily Corona and Mandi Lenon were hit by pitches. They executed a double steal and Corona later scored on a wild pitch. Two more came home in the third on a pair of Drury errors.
 
After working around a leadoff triple in the top of the first, Maryville starting pitcher Chayse Ramey went on to throw five scoreless innings to start the game. She gave up her first run in the bottom of the sixth and was relieved for by Emersen Heron with two outs. Ramey ended her day with one earned, four hits, and three strikeouts.
 
Heron took over and finished off the Panthers in 14 pitches to secure a 3-1 win and her second save of the season.

Game Two Recap
Game two started with two scoreless innings until the Saints broke through in the third. Taylor Shingler collected a one-out single and stole second. A few batters later, Melanie Nelson reached on an error that brought in the game's first run.
 
The Drury starter settled in from there, keeping the Saints quiet throughout the rest of the game. Heron matched her with six scoreless innings and was sent out to finish the game in the seventh. Drury worked a pair of walks and got a pair of two-out singles to walk off the Saints 2-1.
 
Heron ended her start with 6.2 innings pitched, five hits, two earned runs, and three strikeouts.
