Tiemann Sets NCAA Single-Season Scoring Record with 106 Goals in 26-11 Win Over Rockhurst; Bae Tallies 10 Times

St. Louis – During a record-breaking game, Sydney Tiemann set a new NCAA Division II women's lacrosse single-season scoring record with her 106th goal of the season, to break the previous mark of 105 set by Alexandria Quast of Tiffin in 2013. During the contest, the Maryville women's lacrosse team set a program mark for goals in a 26-11 victory over Rockhurst. Helen Bae fired in 10 goals, the second highest total in a game in program records. Jessie Hynes set a new mark for assists in a contest with five helpers.

Bae scored 48 seconds into the game before Rockhurst took a 2-1 lead. Skyler Jolie tied the game to spark a 5-0 run as the Saints eventually took a 7-2 edge after one quarter. Tiemann put Maryville on top 8-3 before the Hawks tallied three straight to get within 8-6. Bae sandwiched scores around one by Tiemann for an 11-6 edge. After a Rockhurst tally, Hynes found the back of the net twice and pushed the Saints ahead 14-8 at halftime.
 
Bae started the second half with another early goal before Tiemann tied the NCAA mark with her 105th goal of the season. The Hawks pulled to within 19-11 midway through the third quarter but the Saints scored the final seven goals to seal the victory.
 
Tiemann broke the NCAA record with 2:58 left in the game. She collected a pass from Lexi Taylor, drove the right side of the Rockhurst defense and rifled in a shot into the upper right corner for the record-breaking goal.

What's Next?
The Saints have completed their regular season and have clinched a spot in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament. UIndy will be the host school, and Maryville will find out its opponent following the conclusion of GLVC games on Sunday. The semifinals will be played Friday, April 28.
