No. 6 UIndy Scores Game Winner with 11.8 Seconds Left to Trip No. 19 Saints 15-14 in Women's Lacrosse Thriller

St. Louis – In a clash of nationally ranked teams, No. 6 Indianapolis scored with 11.8 seconds left in the game to edge No. 19 Maryville 15-14 in a Great Lakes Valley Conference thriller. UIndy's Joey Fowler tallied the winner to cap the comeback from a 13-10 Maryville lead late in the third quarter. Jessie Hynes topped the Saints with four goals and an assist. Reagan Rukstad had a hat trick and one assist for four points. The loss ended Maryville's program-record 13-game winning streak.

Tied at 1-1, Hynes and Skyler Jolie scored consecutive goals for a 3-1 lead. UIndy pulled one back but Katie Von Mecklenburg answered. Sydney Tiemann scored for a 5-2 edge but the Greyhounds scored at the buzzer of the first quarter.
 
UIndy added three more goals to take a 6-5 advantage. Tiemann tied it at 6-6. After the Greyhounds went back ahead 7-6, Tiemann and Hynes scored 20 seconds apart for an 8-7 cushion. Rukstad gave the Saints a 9-8 advantage heading into halftime.
 
The Saints scored four of the first five goals to start the third quarter. Hynes and Von Mecklenburg to push out for an 11-9 margin. The visitors made it a one-goal deficit before Hynes and Rukstad scored to give the Saints a 13-10 advantage. Maryville had a free-position goal waved off due to a violation, and UIndy scored on its next possession to pull to within 13-11. The Greyhounds added on three more goals for a 14-13 lead with 6:51 to play. Helen Bae found a crease in the middle of the UIndy defense to tie the score at 14-14 at the 3:18 mark.
 
UIndy won the following draw control but Ronnie Skorcz forced a turnover. The Saints had one shot stopped by UIndy goalie Audrey Moran, and a second rang off the post. UIndy grabbed the ground ball to set up the final sequence. Fowler collected a pass from Megan Dunn and tucked the shot in just below the crossbar for what would prove to be the game winner. The Saints won the final draw control and called time out but were unable to get the potential game-tying shot off in time.
