Maryville University had seven student-athletes earn 2023 College Sports Communications Academic All-District At-Large team honors. On the women's side, bowler Anna Maxwell, and lacrosse's Reagan Rukstad and Ronnie Skorcz earned the award. For the Maryville men, lacrosse's Clayton Cerett, golfer Max Hsu, lacrosse's Garrett Rivers and wrestler Joey Williams garnered the recognition.
 
A sophomore bowler, Maxwell carries a 3.746 grade point average and is a forensic psychology major. She helped the Saints bowling team earn its first bid to the NCAA Tournament. Maxwell was the national runner-up in the ISC Championships and helped the Saints finish second at the ITC Championship. She was a third-team NTCA All-American, All-Region selection and a first-team All-Great Lakes Valley Conference honoree.
 
A sophomore forward for the Saints women's lacrosse squad, Rukstad has a 3.885 GPA in health sciences. She was voted All-GLVC Honorable Mention after scoring 50 goals and leading the team with 33 assists. Rukstad went over the 100-point milestone for her career this season. She tallied at least one goal in 19 of 20 games and accounted for at least one point in every game of the season. Rukstad scored a career-high six goals at Findlay. She helped lead the Saints to a school record 17 wins and the program's first bid to the NCAA Tournament.
 
Junior defender Skorcz is a nursing major with a 3.723 grade point average. She garnered second-team All-American honors by USA Lacrosse Magazine. Skorcz was voted the GLVC Defender of the Year and earned IWLCA first-team All-Midwest recognition. She amassed 32 caused turnovers, 34 ground balls and snared 54 draw controls Skorcz directed Maryville to the most ground balls in the GLVC. She helped the Saints to a school record 17 wins and the program's first bid to the NCAA Tournament.
 
A sophomore attack for the Saints men's lacrosse team, Cerett has a 3.934 GPA and is an accounting major. He was first-team All-GLVC and led the Saints with 31 goals and added nine assists for a team-high 40 points. Cerett tallied nine multi-goal games, including a career-high six times against Walsh. He notched at least one point in 13 games, and accounted for two game-winning goals, including one against Westminster with 25.6 seconds left in the contest. Cerett was named GLVC Offensive Player of the Week Feb. 27, 2023. He helped Saints to third place in the GLVC regular season, their highest finish in program history.
 
A sophomore on the men's golf team, Hsu has a 3.619 GPA and is a marketing major. He led the team to its first berth in the NCAA DII National Championships finals. He tied for sixth overall at the NCAA Midwest/Central Regional tournament. Hsu was voted to the All-GLVC Men's Golf Team and was named GLVC Player of the Week March 23, 2023. At the SVSU Spring Invitational, he shot a second round score of 66, tied for the second-lowest round in program history. Hsu recorded an ace at Kearney Hill Golf Course during that tournament. He led the team with a 73.20 stroke average. Hsu had seven top-20 finishes and four top-10 placements, and he is ranked No. 18 in the region in adjusted rating by GolfStat.
 
A junior defender on the men's lacrosse squad, Rivers is a data science major with a 3.922 GPA. He led the backline that allowed the fewest total goals in the league at 122, including just 8.0 per game in conference-only games. Rivers grabbed 36 ground balls, the most by a non-faceoff player for the Saints. He recorded at least one caused turnover in every game on the season, including a season-high five against Quincy. Rivers snared at least two ground balls in 11 tilts. He helped Saints to third place in the GLVC regular season, their highest finish in program history.
 
A senior on the Saints wrestling team, Williams graduated from Maryville with a 3.669 grade point average as a criminal justice major. He qualified for the 2023 National Championships at 184 pounds and finished in third place at the Super Region IV Tournament. Williams recorded 20 wins on the season and was ranked as high as No. 11 in the nation in his weight class. He was first-team All-GLVC and selected as an NWCA Scholar All-American. Williams helped the Saints post the highest team GPA in the nation as selected by the NWCA.
 
The CSC Academic All-District program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom. All seven Maryville student-athletes advance to the Academic All-American ballot, and the teams will be announced June 21 and 22. To qualify, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average.
