Emersen Heron kept Maryville's conference tournament run alive with a pair of wins on Saturday including a complete-game shutout of Lewis University in game two. The Saints took game one over Drury University 4-2 before
Lexi Touchette lifted the Saints to a 2-0 win over the Flyers with a solo home run.

Facing elimination,
Emersen Heron took the circle for the Saints in game one against Drury and set down nine of the first 10 Panthers she faced. Erin Sammelman gave Maryville the lead in the top of the second, singling in
Kylie Swinney who tripled in the at-bat prior.
Now with two runners on and two outs still in the top of the second,
Melanie Nelson singled home another run with a shot to right field. Maryville padded its lead in the fourth on RBI singles from
Taylor Duff and
Emily Corona.
Drury got a pair of runs back to begin the bottom of the fourth, convincing Maryville Softball Head Coach
Courtney Conley to make a call to the bullpen.
Chayse Ramey came in with two runners on and worked out of the jam with three consecutive outs to hold it steady at 4-2.
She would not allow another run for the remainder of the game, ending her relief outing with four innings of work, no runs allowed, three hits, and a strikeout. Heron went three innings, allowing two earned, five hits, and picked up two strikeouts.

In Saturday's second game, the Saints were paired with the Lewis University Flyers who had not lost in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament yet. Heron got the start again, shutting Lewis out through the first three frames.
In the top of the fourth, Heron led off with a single and was pinch ran for by
Brooklyn Moore. Moore came in to score with two outs when pinch hitter
Erin Sammelmann dug in and came up with a clutch single to give the Saints a 1-0 lead.
Lexi Touchette led off the top of the fifth inning with a solo blast to right field to double the Maryville lead. Lewis continued to be shut out by the sophomore pitcher through six innings.
Still clinging to a two-run lead in the bottom of the seventh, Heron got the first batter to pop out in foul territory to the catcher before surrendering a one-out single. A passed ball moved the runner to second, but Heron finished the game with a fly out to left field and a swinging strikeout.
Her second win of the day ended as a complete-game shutout with five hits allowed and three strikeouts.
