Kearney, Neb. - The Maryville wrestling team traveled to Kearney, Neb., for three matches at the Younes Hospitality Duals. The Saints lost to Western Colorado, host Nebraska Kearney and Colorado State Pueblo on the day.
 
The Mountaineers won the opening match but Evan Binder took his match at 133 with a 10-7 decision. Kody Ketchum followed with an 8-0 major win at 141. However, Western Colorado took the next five matches. Jeremiah Larson cruised to an 11-3 major in his 197 classification, and heavyweight Ryan Herman closed the match with a 2-0 decision. The Saints were unable to complete the comeback as Western Colorado took the match 29-14.
 
In match two, the Lopes grabbed the early slate matches to build up their lead in the team scoring. Larson got the Saints on the board with a 17-13 victory, his second on the day. However, Nebraska Kearney posted a 38-3 win in the team score.
 
In the finale against CSU-Pueblo, the Saints picked up wins from Binder at 133 with a 17-2 tech fall and an 8-3 decision by Kody Ketchum at 141. The Thunderwolves took the next two weight classes before Cole Ritter notched an 11-2 major at 165. However, CSU Pueblo clinched the team win 22-15 by taking three straight weight classes. Herman ended the tournament with an 11-5 win at 285.
 
The Saints close out their busy weekend with a dual match at No. 19 Central Missouri Sunday, at 3 p.m.
